Spring 2002 My husband, Kirk Connally, runs a small non-profit 501(c)3 in Santa Barbara, Terra Marine Research & Education [TMRE]. Kirk founded TMRE in 1986 to have a venue to gather financial support for a variety of marine-related research and educational projects, many of which have been sponsored in Mexico. No one is paid. With a broad mission statement and support from the TMRE board, we set about to raise enough money to buy a panga for the Higuera family. By providing them with a needed panga, they will be able to raise their standard of living, which in turn will benefit not only Marisol, but also their entire extended family which is so sadly challenged with two who were born with Down's syndrome. Copies of Marisol's story were sent to family and friends. Within a few weeks, enough donations were received to order a new panga, Marisol. TMRE thanks the following people for their generosity, each of whom helped to make this direct relief possible: Charles Blitz, Santa Barbara, CA Contributions are gratefully accepted, and are tax deductible Go to Next Update Winter 2007 Update |
